Fakhrul called on the international community to stand by to restore democracy

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir urged the international community to stand by to restore democracy in Bangladesh. He said that the crisis is not only about BNP, Democracy Manch or People’s Rights Council. It is the biggest problem in whole Bangladesh. A greater crisis has never come before. Can’t speak, can’t get justice, can’t get health care, can’t get education – it can’t happen. An appeal to all international organizations and the international community, as well as to the people, let us stand by the people of Bangladesh to give back their democracy and right to vote.

He said these things at a seminar titled ‘Rohingya crisis and Rohingya return strategy’ organized by BNP at a hotel in Gulshan in the capital on Sunday afternoon. United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Sweden, Canada, Iran, Netherlands, European Union, UNDP, USAID and other United Nations representatives were present.

Referring to the report published in the New York Times, Mirza Fakhrul said that it is clear that the democratic rights of the people of Bangladesh are being taken away slowly and secretly. That is the truth. We have to get out of this situation. There is no alternative.
