At least nine army personnel were killed in a bomb attack on a military convoy in Pakistan. Five more people were injured in this incident.

On Thursday (August 31), a suicide bomber targeted a convoy of security forces in the north-western part of the country, causing casualties.

Al Jazeera reported this information in a report on Friday (September 1).

According to reports, security forces were attacked in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The place is near the Afghan border. A bomb was strapped to the body of a motorcyclist. He blew himself up in the middle of the police convoy. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. However, the initial suspicion is towards the militant organization Al-Qaeda or IS.

The police alleged that the neighboring Taliban government is helping the attackers with money and weapons. Pakistan has seen a dramatic increase in militancy since the Taliban returned to power in neighboring Afghanistan two years ago, with attacks in border areas increasing.

Earlier, there was a suicide attack at a political party conference in August. About 60 people were killed. Over a hundred people were injured.
