Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that if Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi made such a statement that ‘necessary commodity syndicates cannot be touched’, he would be arrested. He said, “If there is a syndicate, it cannot be broken, it is not a matter of fact.” Whenever the price of the product increases, we do not immediately take action.’

The Prime Minister said this in response to a question about commodity prices at a press conference organized at Ganobhaban on Tuesday afternoon. The press conference was organized on the Prime Minister’s visit to South Africa.

He also said that a few houses do business with food products. Whenever they raise prices we import, substitute. So that they are forced to reduce the price. We do not have immediate arrangements.
