The body of a tourist named Ramiz Uddin (55) was recovered from Jaflong in Sylhet 4 hours after he went missing.

Deceased Ramiz Uddin is the son of Bindu Mia of Dalai village in Manikganj.

Today Friday (August 25) around 5 pm, Goainghat police, tourist police and local efforts, his body was recovered from Jaflong Dawki river.

The tourist went missing while taking a bath in the zero point area of Dauki river in Jaflong at noon that day.

According to police and local sources, Ramiz Uddin along with a group of 50 people from his area came to Jaflong on Friday morning. Around noon, Ramiz along with others of the group went down to take a bath in the river at the Zero Point area of Jaflong. At one point, seeing Ramiz drowning under the current, the locals were able to rescue the others, but Ramiz Uddin drowned.

Lutfur Uddin, who came with Ramiz Uddin, said that when Ramiz and others in the group went down to take a bath, Ramiz drowned due to the current.

On receiving the information, along with Jaflong tourist police, the policemen of the police station went to the spot and carried out rescue operations.

In this regard, Goainghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge KM Nazrul Islam said, Goainghat Police Station as well as tourist police have put up several warning signboards not to enter the water, but many tourists are too enthusiastic to take a bath in the river. Due to this, unexpected accidents happen at various times. A tourist named Ramiz Uddin went missing around noon today while taking a bath with the group. His body was recovered from Jaflong Dawki river around 5 pm with the help of Goainghat police station, tourist police and locals.
