Sudkhor Wahid hanged in Habiganj businessman Abdul Hai murder case

After 26 years, a person named Sudkhor Abdul Wahid has been sentenced to death for murdering a businessman named Md. Abdul Hai in Sultanshi village of Lashkarpur Union No. 10 of Habiganj Sadar Upazila.

Habiganj’s learned Additional Sessions Judge-1 Md. Azizul Haque passed the sentence on Thursday afternoon. The accused was present in court when the verdict was announced.

Peshkar Syed Gholam Hadi said that on the evening of June 1, 1997, when he wanted to ask for the due money, Abdul Wahid and the businessman Abdul Hai had an argument over the interest. At one point Ah Hai was hit in the chest with a dagger and he fell to the ground. The local people rescued him and brought him to Sadar Hospital where the doctor declared him dead.

In this regard, Abdul Hai’s younger brother Abdul Chafi filed a murder case against 5 people on June 2, the day after the incident. Later the then SI Golap Rahman of Habiganj Sadar police station investigated and filed a charge sheet against only Abdul Waheed. Others are excluded for mysterious reasons. After hearing the testimony of 20 people, the learned court gave the above judgment on Thursday.

The children and relatives of the deceased businessman Abdul Hai were present during the verdict. They expressed their satisfaction with the verdict and demanded that the execution order be executed quickly. However, the defendants said they will appeal against the verdict. Later, the accused Wahid was taken to the jail through tight security.

Advocate Saleh Uddin Ahmed, the additional public prosecutor handling the case for the state, told CNBangladesh that the state is happy with the verdict. Justice has been ensured. Criminals will be careful to commit such crimes in future.
