Police seized a truck with 4 thousand 492 kg of sugar brought illegally from India in Jokiganj of Sylhet late on Saturday night. At that time, the truck driver was also arrested.

On Sunday, the arrested truck driver Maqbul Hossain was sent to Jokiganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Court and the court ordered him to be sent to jail.
Zakiganj police station SI Jahed Hossain said that on Saturday midnight while doing patrol duty, police station OC Md. Mosharraf Hossain received secret news that a truck full of Indian illegal sugar had left for Jokiganj from Atgram. Based on such information, Sheola of the municipal area set up a check post on Jakiganj road and seized a truck full of illegal Indian sugar. 94 sacks of illegal Indian sugar were found in the truck. It had a total of 4 thousand 492 kg of sugar. Later, in front of the people present, the truck with sugar was seized and the driver arrested.
He said that during the initial questioning of the arrested truck driver, he said that the Indian sugar was brought to Bangladesh by Masum Ahmad of Sonasar area through the Kanighat border through Sumon Member of Ghat Bazar area of Jokiganj and sold it in different places of Sylhet by changing the sacks in the sacks of Bangladeshi Igloo company.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jokiganj Police Station. Mosharraf Hossain said that the police has filed a case in the police station as a plaintiff in this incident. The arrested truck driver has been sent to jail by the court. The investigating officer will take action after verifying the others whose names are found.
