We are caught in a global joke: Foreign Minister
Sylhet Representative/
Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen said, ‘Bangladesh is gaining more importance to foreigners due to its geographical location and development. They are watching Bangladesh. We have fallen into the global joke.’
He said this in response to questions from journalists after the inauguration of 12 development projects of Sylhet Sadar Upazila Parishad on Friday.
The foreign minister said that a group and their expatriate associates are spreading false propaganda to foreigners about Bangladesh. Just as the rich countries cannot tolerate the development of China, they do not want the development of Bangladesh.
Earlier, in the inauguration ceremony of the LGED implementation project at the Upazila Parishad auditorium, the minister said that there is peace and stability in the country because of the Awami League government. Sheikh Hasina’s government is needed again and again to maintain continuous development.
The minister expressed his displeasure at the slowness of work in some projects out of hundreds of projects worth Rs 189 crore and said, finish the work for the sake of Allah. The foreign minister also asked why it would take 13 years to build the 12 km Badaghat-bypass road. At this time, he expressed hope that the next national parliament election will be fair and fair.
Newly elected City Mayor Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury, District Awami League President Shafikur Rahman Chowdhury, Upazila Parishad Chairman Ashfaq Ahmad and others gave speeches on the occasion.
In the afternoon, the foreign minister addressed the chief guest at the Zilla Parishad scholarship award ceremony at the Zilla Parishad auditorium.
