People’s power is Awami League’s power: Prime Minister

The President of the ruling Awami League, Sheikh Hasina, said this while opening the special extended meeting of the party at her official residence Ganabhaban today.

Pointing out that Awami League only works for the welfare of the people of the country, he said, “This is why we make our pledge to the countrymen during elections.” what we have done and what we will do in the future; We say that only to the people, not to anyone else.

In this context, he said to his party leaders, “I want everyone to work together keeping this in mind.”

Sheikh Hasina also directed the party leaders and workers to present the achievements of the 14 and a half years of her government to the people of the Trinamool. At the same time reminding that the next general election is approaching, he asked to strengthen the party and called upon to gain the trust and confidence of the people.

Around 5000 Awami League leaders and elected representatives participated in the meeting.

Members of the party’s central executive committee, advisory council, district, metropolitan, upazila and municipal unit presidents and general secretaries of Awami League, members of parliament, district and upazila parishad chairman, city corporation and municipal mayors, associate organization presidents and general secretaries were present in the meeting.

Awami League holds such meetings before every national election to give instructions to party leaders. The last meeting was held on June 23, 2017 before the 2018 parliamentary elections.

The Prime Minister said that due to Awami League being in power, today Bangladesh has got the status of a ‘developing country’ given by the United Nations. For this we have to work with a long plan.

Mentioning that Bangladesh’s journey as a developing country will begin in 2026, he said, “I want to know from the people of the country, do they want Bangladesh to move forward with the status of a developing country?”

He said, ‘You will question the people. Because they (the people) own the vote. If they want Bangladesh to move forward with the status of a developing country, then they should vote by boat. And it will be possible if Awami League gets votes. Moreover, no one else will do it.

Pointing out that Awami League is working to change the fate of people of all professions, including blacksmiths, potters, weavers, fishermen, the Prime Minister said, “We will work for everyone, that is our promise.”

Sheikh Hasina said, ‘Awami League has worked for every people; No one else had thought or worked for the people before.

He also said, ‘We will build the golden Bangladesh of the dream of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation.’
