In Sylhet’s Gowainghat upazila, a housewife has died after being assaulted by a neighbor’s youth.

The incident took place in Uttar Pratappur village of the upazila at around 9:30 am on Thursday (August 3).

Deceased Ayesha Siddika Julie alias Zarina (30) wife of Hasan Mia of Pratappur village.

According to local and police sources, on Thursday around 9:30 am, Zarina was going to the local madrasa behind the residence of Siddiqur Rahman (22), son of Nawab Ali, a resident of the neighboring house. At that time, an argument started with Siddiqur Rahman about trivial matters. At one point, Siddiqur Rahman brought Daa from his residence and kept Zarina wandering around.

Meanwhile, the neighbors rushed to Zarina’s screams and removed Siddiqur Rahman and took the seriously injured Zarina to Gowainghat Upazila Health Complex. However, if Zarina’s physical condition was serious, the doctor on duty sent her to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. After being taken to Osmani Hospital, Zarina collapsed at around 11:30 pm. Zarina’s body is currently at the Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem.

In this regard, Gowainghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) KM Nazrul said that after receiving the information, the police visited the spot and arrested the accused Siddiqur Rahman with the help of locals. In this regard, the family of the deceased is preparing to file a case.
