Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said, “The schedule for the 12th National Assembly elections in September is not being announced. It is not possible before October.

He said this in response to media workers’ questions at the Election Commission Secretariat on Sunday afternoon.

The CEC said, “It (about the announcement of the schedule) was not discussed or decided between us. 90 days time, together with him I said earlier schedule in September.

Asked about the possible timing of the national elections, he said, “Not before the last week of December.” It is in our plans; The last week of December or the first week of January – that’s the thing that matters.”
