The country’s first elevated expressway (Ural Sadak) is being launched in September this year to reduce traffic congestion in the capital. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the elevated expressway.

He said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the Airport-Farmgate section of the under-construction Dhaka Elevated Expressway in September. Once the entire work of this expressway is completed, traffic congestion in Dhaka city will be reduced to a large extent. It will also have a positive impact on the economy.

The Minister of Road Transport and Bridges said that the expressway is being completed in three phases. 97 percent of the first part up to Banani, 54 percent of the Banani to Moghbazar part has been completed. On the other hand, physical work has started on the last part from Moghbazar to Qutubkhali.

He also said that 63 percent of the total work of this project has been completed. Once the entire project is completed, the expressway will connect the capital with the Dhaka-Chittagong highway (Qutubkhali).

Obaidul Quader said that in the first phase of the physical work of the project, 1482 piles, 326 pile caps, 325 columns, 325 cross beams, 3 thousand 48 eye girders have been completed. Besides, 3 thousand 48 eye girders and 328 bridges have been completed. The progress of this physical work is 97.28 percent.

The bridge minister said that in the second phase of the physical work of the project, 1 thousand 633 piles, 335 pile caps, 323 columns, 320 cross beams, 2 thousand 305 eye girders have been completed. Besides, 2 thousand 44 eye girders and 233 bridges have been completed. The progress of this physical work is 54.22 percent.

According to the project documents, the Udal road project is being implemented in three phases under public-private joint investment (PPP). The first leg is south of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from Kawla to Banani Railway Station. Second stage from Banani railway station to Moghbazar railway crossing. The third phase is from Moghbazar rail crossing to Qutubkhali on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. The total length of this flyover is 19.73 kilometers.

The construction process of the project started on January 19, 2011 and is finally seeing the light of day. The construction period of this project is estimated from July 2011 to June 2024.

It is reported that the route of Udal road is Kaola, Kuril, Banani, Mohakhali, Tejgaon, Moghbazar, Kamalapur, Syedabad, Jatrabari to Qutubkhali on Dhaka-Chittagong highway. All the way along the railway line. The cost of implementation of the project is estimated to be around 8 thousand 940 crores, out of which the government of Bangladesh is giving 2 thousand 413 crores.

Officials of Italian Thai Development Public Company Limited, China Shandong International Economic and Technical Cooperation Group (CSI) and Sinohydro Corporation Limited were present during the inspection of Dhaka Elevated Expressway construction. Obaidul Quader said in response to the questions of the journalists, the feasibility study is going on with the outer circular around the capital. The Awami League government is the first in the country to build Bangabandhu Tunnel, Metro Rail, Padma Setu, Expressway in Chittagong. If Awami League returns to power in the next election, other plans including outer circular will be implemented on time.

Meanwhile, Awami League general secretary said about the one-phase movement of 32 parties including BNP, the collapse of the one-phase movement is inevitable in the unity of this mess of 32 parties. The goal with which this unity of chaos will result is intolerable.

Obaidul Quader said, the government will remain as it is. Not even a wave could wake up. Who is the leader of their movement? Will the ship run without a captain? This jumble of unity changes from point to point. There is no guarantee that these 32 teams will survive. Earlier there were 54 teams. The collapse of this messy unity is inevitable.

Obaidul Quader said in response to journalists’ questions about the arrival of the US and European Union delegation to Bangladesh that the US delegation is not coming for election-related matters. They are coming to know the situation of Rohingyas. And the EU delegation is coming to see how the observer team will monitor the elections.
