Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md. Shahab Uddin said, the developed world should increase funding and technical assistance to conserve biodiversity.  At the World Biodiversity Conference held in Montreal last December, Bangladesh raised strong voice to the developed world to ensure funding in this regard.  The conference decided to establish a dedicated funding system called the Global Biodiversity Framework Fund for developing and underdeveloped countries for biodiversity conservation.  In addition to getting money from the international level for biodiversity conservation, own financing should also be increased. Environment Minister said these things in the chief guest’s speech at the workshop titled ‘Consultations Workshop on Implementation of Global Biodiversity Framework in Bangladesh’ on the theme ‘From Agreement to Action: Build Back Biodiversity’ on the occasion of International Biodiversity Day 2023, organized Thursday in the Department of Environment, Agargaon in the Capital. The Environment Minister said that the multilateral agreements concluded at the international level should be properly implemented to prevent the loss of biodiversity.  Work on updating the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) earlier prepared in 2016 in the light of the Global Biodiversity Framework for biodiversity conservation will be initiated soon. Therefore, with the aim of conserving biodiversity, the government as well as the private sector must work together and ensure funding in this regard. It will be possible to achieve success only if everyone works together to conserve biodiversity. Under the chairmanship of Dr. Farhina Ahmed Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Deputy Minister Habibun Nahar, Dr. Alex Owusu Biney, Representative of the Task Team, UN Environment, Nairobi;  Dr. Abdul Hamid, Director General of Department of Environment;  Md. Amir Hossain Chowdhury, Chief Conservator of Forest Department, etc also spoke in the workshop as special guests. Deputy Secretary of the Ministry Mohammad Abdul Wadud Chowdhury and Director of Department of Environment Solaiman Haider presented the keynote papers at the workshop.
