Bangladesh got a record victory in the Test

Bangladesh got a record win against Afghanistan in the only Test. Bangladesh were all out for 382 runs in the first innings, Afghanistan were all out for 146 runs. Later, Bangladesh declared the innings after losing 4 wickets by scoring 425 runs in the second innings. Chasing the big target of 662 runs, the Afghans could not score more than 115 runs. Bangladesh won by 546 runs.

This is Bangladesh’s biggest win in Test history. Not only that, Bangladesh has won the third highest number of runs in Test history of 146 years. This is the largest since 1934.

This Test of Bangladesh against Afghanistan was also about revenge. Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh in the first match between the two teams. Liton Das’ team took revenge by defeating them four years later. The hosts took a different strategy against the Afghans this time. Bangladesh has made a green wicket for this new team in Tests.

The opponent captain Hashmatullah Shahidi sent Bangladesh to bat first after winning the toss on that wicket. The hosts scored 382 runs in the first innings with a calm and great batting. The maximum 146 runs came from Shantar’s bat. Joy scored 76 runs off 137 balls before returning to the pavilion.

After a century in the first innings, a timely century came from Shantar’s bat in the second innings as well. He played an innings of 71 runs off 95 balls before getting out. Muminul also spent a long century of drought. Bangladesh announced the innings after scoring 425 runs for four wickets. Bangladesh set a mountain target of 662 runs in front of the Afghans to win.

Chasing 662 runs, the Afghans were bowled out for 115 runs by the Tiger Pacers. Afghanistan started the fourth day with 45 runs for two wickets. Bangladesh’s best bowler Taskin Ahmed took 4 wickets for 37 runs in the second innings. Shariful Islam got 3 wickets for 28 runs. Ebadat and Miraj took one wicket each. Nazmul Hossain Shanto, who scored centuries in both innings, was adjudged Man of the Match.
