In addition, various officials of the government departments of Koyra Upazila, members of the Union and Ward Disaster Management Committees, CPP members, civil society, journalists, NGO representatives, representatives of local displaced people were present. Also present were Project Coordinator Pavitra Kumar Mondal, DRR and CCA Project Coordinator of Caritas Khulna Region Md. Ibrahim Hosne.
The president of the program, Upazila Executive Officer Ruli Biswas, said, “The level of various disasters due to climate change is increasing every year. Due to the accumulation of sediment in rivers, the sea level is increasing and the rivers are overflowing, flooding vast areas. As a result, people are becoming helpless due to the breach of embankments. As a result, the number of internal migrations is increasing day by day. For this, alternative employment arrangements need to be made. He also said, this kind of program is the first for this upazila, so I will try to present your well-thought-out opinions on today’s program to the higher authorities so that they can be included in the next five-year plan and play a helpful role in reducing the impact of climate change.”
