Youth Empowerment Summit 23 for Sustainable Development was held at Catholic Church (Khistan Mission) of Satkhira Sadar Upazila, Chaltetla.

Youth Empowerment Summit for Sustainable Development-2023 was held on Tuesday (December 12) at the Catholic Church (Khistan Mission) of Satkhira Sadar Upazila, Chaltetla in collaboration with ActionAid Bangladesh to implement the Non-Governmental Development Organization (CDOW).

The youth conference was presided over by Chief Executive, Sido, Satkhira, Shyamal Kumar Biswas and Principal of Satkhira Government Women’s College, Vasudev Bose, was present as the chief guest.

Honorable guests were – Panel Mayor Satkhira Municipality Md. Anwar Hossain Milan, Senior Health Education Officer Pulak Kumar Chakraborty, Principal (Acting) Technical Training Center (TTC) Satkhira KM Mizanur Rahman, Medical Officer, Satkhira Sadar Hospital, Dr. Rahul Dev Roy.

The chief executive, Sido, Satkhira, Shyamal Kumar Biswas delivered the welcome speech at the youth conference.

300 youth members from 12 youth associations of Fungi, Braksharajpur and municipality of Satkhira Sadar upazila and Nagar Ghata and Dhandia union of Tala upazila were present in the youth conference.

The agenda of the youth conference was; Youth members presented 2023 targets, implemented activities, significant achievements, lessons learned, challenges, future plans, round table meeting with religious leaders on social cohesion, peace and harmony. Discussion on current status of youth in Satkhira and quality of service. Sectoral discussion on the role of government service delivery authorities (health, technical training centres, women’s affairs, social services, environment) for youth. Dialogues and cultural events on the challenges of women’s capacity building and access to health care in the context of climate change in coastal areas.

Satkhira Youth Hub Coordinator Masud Rana, Youth Peer Group Fellow, Baisakhi Sultana, Hriday Mandal, Youth Fellow, Youth Fellow Sakib Hossain served as moderators.

The objectives were to promote youth-led agri-ecology and green initiatives to combat environmental pollution and empowerment, build inter-community and intergenerational cohesion, overcome barriers by marginalized youth, promote sustainable development, and build strong communities.

Project Coordinator Md Tahidjuman (Tahid), Inspector Zeenat Rahman Melody, Program Officer Chandra Shekhar Halder, Finance Officer Chandan Kumar Vaidya, Youth Peer Group Fellow Richard Halder were present.
