On Tuesday (August 29) in the conference room of the office of the Superintendent of Police, there was an exchange of views with the representatives of the District Police Superintendent.
District Superintendent of Police Md. Manjur Rahman said, we are doing various things including community policing, beat policing on behalf of the police to maintain law and order. We have sent our officers to you through Beat Policing to bring police services to people’s doorsteps. We have to work together with beat officers, community policing, village police, night guards to maintain overall law and order. In this case, coordination between the officer in charge of the police station and the public representatives will be beneficial.
Recently, regarding the militant hideout in Kulaura upazila, the Superintendent of Police said, “We all have to be aware of militancy and terrorism.” Everyone including the local public representatives should keep an eye on the identity and activities of any new person in any area. If we were a little aware of the Kulaura incident, we could have eliminated them earlier.
Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) Mohsin, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) also attended the meeting. Ajmal Hossain, District Special Branch DIO-1 Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury and the officers in charge of all police stations of the district were present. Also, various upazila chairmen, municipal mayors, upazila vice chairmen, women vice chairmen, union council chairpersons were present and highlighted the various problems of their respective areas.
