On the occasion of World Mother’s Day, a special worship and discussion meeting was held at the Children of Light Church in Sadki Union, Kumarkhali Upazila, Kushtia on Sunday morning. The chief guest of the meeting was Rev. Zaker ALi Shuva, Bishop of Children of Light Church and General Secretary of Bangladesh Christian Association Kushtia District Branch. Shamema Parvin, Atiyar Rahman and Michael Azad, spoke as special guests at the program presided over by Antony L. Rahman, Publicity and Publication Secretary of Bangladesh Christian Association Kushtia District Branch. Maria delivered the welcome speech. Bangladesh Christian Association and Children of Light Church jointly organized this program.

The guests at the program said that the role of mothers is very important in building society and family. Mother is an institution, the debt of a mother can never be repaid. Mothers in this world are our closest relatives. Mothers protect their children with love, affection, and care. A mother does all the work of the family, starting from raising children. Mothers should fulfill their responsibilities properly.

The sweetest call in the world is mother. Deep affection, affection, and the most genuine love in the world are hidden within this small word. From childhood, joy, pain, fear, or excitement – the name of mother is associated with every human feeling. From birth to death, the last refuge of a person is the lap of that loving woman named mother.

Today, Sunday, is World Mother’s Day in honor of all those loving mothers in the world. The day is celebrated with special dignity worldwide on the second Sunday of May every year.

The speakers also said that whoever has the blessings of a mother will reach his goal. Not just one day, but every day should be celebrated as Mother’s Day. At the event, the chief guest greeted all mothers with flowers.

The current Mother’s Day began in 1908. At the beginning of the last century, Anna Jarvis, a schoolteacher in Philadelphia, USA, was shocked by the separation of families there and thought of creating awareness by celebrating a special day for mothers. She died on May 9, 1905, before she could realize her great idea. After her death, her daughter Anna M. Jarvis started working to fulfill her mother’s last wish.

In 1908, she and her friends started a program with all mothers at the church where her mother worshipped in Philadelphia. In 1914, the then President of the United States, Woodrow Wilson, officially declared the second Sunday of May as a public holiday dedicated to mothers in the United States. Since then, the second Sunday of May has been celebrated as International Mother’s Day.
