Srimangal hostage looted money recovered, arrested 2

The police arrested two people involved in the incident after entering Shahid Mia’s house in Srimangal Bhandari neighborhood of Moulvibazar and recovering the looted money taken hostage by the family members.

Police inspector (investigation) under the direction of Jahangir Hossain Sardar, officer in charge of Srimangal police station late on Sunday night. A police team including Aminul Islam, Police Inspector (Operation) Tapas Chandra Roy, SI Anwar, SI Subrata conducted a raid and arrested Shahjahan Mia (35) and Iqbal Mia (28).

The policemen recovered 20,000 taka from the arrested Shahjahan and Iqbal.

Officer-in-charge of Srimangal police station Jahangir Hossain Sardar told CNBangladesh that on the night of August 23, Iqbal and Shahjahan entered the house of a person named Shaheed Mia and took the family members as hostages and looted 80 thousand cash and 1 pair of gold rings. Later, when a complaint was filed with the police station, two people were arrested along with the recovery of Tk 20,000 of looted money. Police are working to recover the remaining money and goods. The arrested were sent to Moulvibazar learned court on Sunday morning.
