BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital on August 10 due to various physical complications. Currently, the hospital is under “close observation” of the medical board, said his personal doctor, Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain.

He confirmed this information on Monday morning.

Dr. Zahid said, madam is taking treatment in the cabin. Specialist doctors are always monitoring.

Meanwhile, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir went to Evercare Hospital in Bashundhara around 10 pm on Sunday. He spoke to the doctors about Khaleda Zia’s latest physical condition.

Earlier on August 10, when Khaleda Zia’s illness worsened at Basa Feroza in Gulshan, the Evercare Hospital Medical Board advised her to be admitted to the hospital for a health check-up.
78-year-old Khaleda Zia has been suffering from arthritis, diabetes, kidney and liver complications and heart disease for a long time.

Earlier, he had to be admitted to the hospital last June. At that time he had to stay under close observation of doctors for five days.

Since being infected with Covid in April 2021, he has been hospitalized several times due to various ailments.

After being admitted to the hospital last year, the doctors of the medical board informed that he was suffering from bleeding in the digestive system and cirrhosis of the liver. Later, when he suffered from a heart attack, a stent was placed in his heart.

Incidentally, on February 8, 2018, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia went to jail with a five-year sentence in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case. In October of that year, the sentence was increased to 10 years after hearing the appeal in the High Court.
After this, the BNP leader was sentenced to another seven years in the Zia Charitable Trust corruption case. He was still in the Nazimuddin Road jail in Old Dhaka.

In 2020, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina exercised her executive powers to suspend Khaleda’s sentence for six months following the outbreak of coronavirus in the country. Khaleda Zia has been living in her home in Gulshan since her release on March 25 that year.
