Detective police have seized a large shipment of Indian sugar illegally coming to Sylhet. 2 boats loaded with sugar were seized from Surma river near Sylhet Kotyali police station early on Saturday (July 29). Meanwhile, the police arrested 5 people.

The arrested are Ali Ahmad (25), son of Abdul Khalik of Langura village of Goainghat upazila, Sylhet, Soloman Ahmad (28), son of Ahmad Ali, Saifur Rahman (21), son of Manu Mia of Kandi village in Dakati of the same upazila, Junayed Ahmad (21), son of Zahir Uddin and deceased. Abdul Mannan’s son. Nurul Amin (31).

According to a press release from Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) media wing, based on secret information, a team of detective police seized 219 sacks of Indian sugar worth Tk 13 lakh 14 thousand from Surma river in front of road and township office adjacent to Kotwali police station on Saturday morning. . Meanwhile, the police arrested these 5 smugglers.

Later, after filing a case against the 5 arrested people at Kotyali police station, they were sent to jail through the court.
