Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen said, “Activist” ambassadors do not group together and comment anywhere in the world.

He said this in response to questions from journalists after an award ceremony at Sylhet Shilpakala Academy on Friday afternoon. At this time, the foreign minister urged the media to boycott those commenting on the internal affairs of Bangladesh.

Abdul Momen said, “Due to the over-publicization of foreigners’ comments in the media, they enjoy talking about internal affairs. They consider themselves the emperor of this country. Recently 40 people died in panchayat elections in West Bengal. Not a single country spoke. Who did what in our country, they immediately shouted. It amounts to interference in internal affairs.’

Earlier, as the chief guest, the foreign minister handed over medals, checks and certificates to five talented artists in five categories at Shilpakala Academy Auditorium in the city’s Shahi Eidgah.

Chairman of Zilla Parishad Nasir Uddin Khan and Acting President of District Awami League Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury spoke as special guests in the program presided over by Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Mujibur Rahman.

District Cultural Officer Asit Baran Das Gupta gave a welcome address on the occasion under the direction of recitalist Rohena Sultana and Mihirkanti Chowdhury expressed his sentiments on behalf of talented artists.

The artists who received the District Arts Academy Award 2022 are Mihirkanti Chowdhury (Folk Culture), Purnima Dutta Roy (Vocal), Champak Sarkar (Drama), Jyoti Bhattacharya (Recitation) and Minu Mia (Instrumental Music).

At the beginning of the program, the dancers of the academy performed a dance with the song ‘Alo Amar Alo Ogo, Alo Bhuban Bhara’.
