Police have arrested 3 people including the driver in connection with the recovery of Digant bus stolen from Habiganj city. The mastermind of this incident, bus driver Zahirul Islam Khan, has given a confessional statement under section 164 in the court. According to his confession, SI Kawsar Mahmud Toran of Sadar police station arrested the other two accomplices in various areas including Kishoreganj and Narsingdi.

The arrested are Mordan car driver Zakir Mia (45) son of Daim Uddin of Gobarkhala village of Chunarughat upazila, Digant bus driver Zahirul Islam Khan (30) son of Abdul Jabbar Khan of Marjal village of Raipura police station of Narsingdi district and Zakir Hossain son of Rustam Ali of Nalua village of Madhabadi driver. (35).

They were sent to jail by the court last Wednesday.

However, quoting the confession of Zahirul Islam, the police said that on the morning of June 9, some people including the mentioned 3 people stole Digant Bus No. (Dhaka Metro-B-19-0058) from Habiganj Municipal Bus Terminal. When the gas runs out on the side of the road in Narsingdi Belabo Thana area, the wheels are placed on bricks and sold there. When the police saw the matter, they left the car and got stuck. At one point, when the car was impounded and reported to the Sadar police station, SI Toran went to the spot on the instructions of OC Golam Mortuza and recovered the car and within 24 hours raided various areas including Narsingdi, Kishoreganj, Bibaria, Habiganj, Ajmiriganj and recovered the wheels and valuables of the car. They were also arrested.

Meanwhile, Habiganj Bus Owners Association applauded for conducting such an operation and unraveling the mystery within 24 hours.
