‘Azrael stands behind’
Dhaka/
BNP has claimed that the finance minister’s speech on the proposed budget is a ‘joke with the people’. Secretary General of the party Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that those who cannot pay income tax will also have to pay tax of two thousand rupees. But the Minister of State said that it is a poor-friendly budget, a budget for the poor. This statement of his is nothing but mascara.
The Secretary General of BNP made this comment in a rally on Saturday (June 3) in the context of the Finance Minister’s speech at the post-Budget press conference. The rally was held in front of the central office in Naya Paltan to protest the sentencing of party standing committee member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku and chairperson’s adviser Aman Ullah Aman in the case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commissioner (ACC) on the initiative of the Metropolitan BNP North-South. Ignoring the scorching heat, the leaders and workers of various wards of BNP and organizations of the capital attended this rally with a procession.
He also said that now a new system has started again. Money has already been smuggled abroad, thousands of crores of rupees have been smuggled. Now we see in the papers that money is coming back again. Why bring back? Those who have smuggled money are bringing it back because it is not safe to keep it abroad. They are taking this advantage of getting two and a half percent incentive if they bring back the smuggled money. That is, none is willing to give up.
General Secretary of BNP said that in this budget given by the government, the most affected are the common people, poor people, working people, rickshaw puller brothers, even beggars who have no other option, have not been left out, i.e. those who have been told about tax exemption. Must pay, put tin number. That’s why there is a nice cartoon in the newspaper, it shows a beggar with his legs cut off, begging with a plate and an income tax tin number on his chest. This is the state of this government.
Fakhrul said, I want to tell the government that there is still time for good wisdom to emerge. Accept the demands of the people. Or elect the people’s parliament and the people’s government through elections. That is the only way out of this crisis. Besides, there is no other way. On the other hand, there is no use in running. It’s your time, it’s time, it’s time. Azrael stands behind. BNP Secretary General also urged the leaders and workers to unite and take the movement forward.
