There are more than half a hundred TomTom garages in Habiganj city and surrounding areas. And while charging in these garages, death is constantly happening. About half a hundred people are reported to have died in the last one year. Most drivers have died while charging TomTom. Even after so many deaths PDB or Palli Vidyut is not taking any action against these illegal TomTom garages. As a result, the number of illegal TomTom garages is increasing day by day. There are allegations that they are running the garage by managing some dishonest PDB officials and employees.

TomTom driver Alal Mia, son of Chamir Ali of Tegharia village of Sadar Upazila, was electrocuted while charging TomTom at the local garage. The people rescued him and brought him to Sadar Hospital where the doctor declared him dead. However, soon after the incident, the garage owner got stuck.

According to the investigation, there are more than 50 garages in various areas of the city including Natirabad, Poddar Bari, Shamshanghat, Shaistanagar, Machulia, Pool No. 2, Bahula, Tegharia, Bhadai. Which is listed in PDB. At times mob raids are conducted. But after a while it goes back to the previous state. Apart from this, the issue of taking commission from garage owners also went viral through communication. Still PDB officials did not take any action against these. Meanwhile, the Sadar police station sent the body of the deceased to the Sadar Hospital morgue. The OC said that the cause of death will be known after the post-mortem report.
