12 arrested in Srimangal Thana police raids

12 people including 5 gamblers have been arrested in several raids by Srimangal police station of Moulvibazar.
On Friday (March 10) night, a police team led by SI Anwarul Islam Pathan, under the direction of Srimangal police station officer-in-charge Md. Jahangir Hossain Sardar, arrested 5 gamblers, including a notorious gambler of Srimangal, along with gambling equipment and cash from suburban Surmavally area.
The arrested are notorious gambler Md Tofazzal Hossain, Md Asaduzzaman Noor, Iman Hossain, Hafiz Ahmad, Mrutyanjoy Pal. Meanwhile, gambling equipment and cash amounting to Tk 14,430 were seized from the gambling venue. The arrested gamblers were sent to jail by the Moulvibazar district learned court on Saturday morning after filing a case under Gambling Act at Srimangal police station.
In another operation of Srimangal police station, SI Nurul Islam, SI Zakir Hossain, ASI Monirul Islam conducted the operation and arrested 3 absconding accused.
The arrested are: Md Shahid Miah, Mujahid Miah and Mukid Miah. According to the police, the accused under the warrant of GR-215/16 (Shri) was absconding. In another raid, ASI Raju Biswas arrested the accused Mamunur Rashid under the warrant of CR-313/21 (Shahparan) police station. ASI Jeeban Bakti of Srimangal police station arrested the accused Salim Mia under the warrant of CR-243/21 (Shri) in another raid. SI Ziaur Rahman raided Md. Ainul Haque under Section 34 of Police Act and SI Zakir Hossain raided and arrested an accused named Abdul Hamid under Section 34. After the legal process at Srimangal police station, the arrested persons have been sent to jail through the learned district court.
