The Mymensingh City Corporation (MOSIC) has intensified its Aedes mosquito control program in the context of increasing dengue outbreaks across the country. CRUSH program is being conducted in 33 wards of the city. Adulticide and larvicide are being applied preferentially to 140 hotspots. Apart from this, regular operations are being conducted to detect Aedes mosquitoes. Cleaning operations are also underway to destroy the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes. Also, Aedes mosquito larvae are found in stagnant water in any under-construction building or establishment. Lakhs of rupees have been fined in the last three months. However, the Mayor of Mymensingh City Corporation, Md. Ikramul Haque Titu, is giving more importance to public awareness to prevent dengue from these activities. In the meantime, measures have been taken by the city corporation to promote awareness songs through road shows, miking, distribution of leaflets, promotion on local channels and social media.

Mosik Mayor said in this context, Aedes mosquitoes breed in clean water that accumulates for more than three days in our house, yard or other places. In these places, you have to take initiative and destroy the breeding ground. Can shells, car tires, broken bottles, abandoned flower tubs should be removed on your own initiative. It is possible to achieve success in dealing with dengue only through collective initiative and awareness.
