Cannabis grower arrested with cannabis plant in Baniachang

A cannabis grower has been arrested with cannabis plants in Banyachang. On Monday (October 24) at 4:30 in the afternoon, the Police conducted a police raid from Dakshin Sangar village of Makrampur Union No. 11 of the upazila and arrested Md. Zakaria Talukdar (52), son of deceased Naib Ali, a ganja farmer, along with 4 ganja plants.
He is the brother of Ward No. 8 member Akhtar Hossain. According to local residents and police sources, the arrested Zakaria Talukdar had been cultivating ganja for a long time in his house.
On the instructions of Baniachong Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ajay Chandra Dev, SI AKM Fazlur Rahman of Sujatpur police station conducted a raid with a group of policemen at his house and arrested the grower along with the cannabis plant. Later on October 25 (Tuesday) when he was brought to Baniachong police station, the police station filed a case against him under drug law and sent him to jail through the court.
In this regard, Baniachong Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ajay Chandra Dev confirmed the truth of the incident and said, “We received information that the arrested accused was cultivating ganja secretly and we conducted a raid and arrested him along with the ganja plant and sent him to jail through the court. Our campaign against various crimes including these drugs is continuing.
