Abdullah Al Mamun: A food friendly program was inaugurated in Chapainawabganj with the slogan ‘Sheikh Hasina’s Bangladesh, hunger will be eradicated’. This program was inaugurated in Chamagram of Barogharia Union of Sadar Upazila on Monday (September 05) morning. Under this jail-wide program, 30 kg of rice is being sold at the rate of Tk 15 per kg among the card-holding poor people at the union level.

Deputy Commissioner AKM Galiv Khan inaugurated the food friendly program. At this time, he said, about 60,000 families in the district will be directly benefited under the food-friendly program. In the month of September alone, the food department will distribute 1800 metric tons of rice in this program. Helpless, poor, daily wage earners will directly benefit by buying this rice at a low price.

District Food Controller Mahmudul Hasan said that about 1800 metric tons of rice will be distributed to 60000 families under this program through a total of 103 food friendly dealers in the district.

Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Iffat Jahan, District Administration Executive Magistrate & Assistant Commissioner Taufiq Aziz, Upazila Food Controller Zakir Hossain, Technical Food Inspector Arafat Rahman, Dealer Tariqul Islam and beneficiaries were also present at the opening ceremony.
