BNP-Police clash in Netrakona: 32 injured

As BNP party workers came from different areas of Sadar Upazila to attend the 44th founding anniversary of BNP in Netrakona, all traffic was stopped on the road in front of the party office in small market of the city. Later, BNP workers clashed with the police to keep traffic on the main road of the city.
The clash took place on the road in front of the BNP party office in Chhotabazar area of the city on Thursday (September 1) around 10:30 am.
12 policemen including Additional Superintendent of Police were injured in this clash. Besides, 20 activists of BNP were injured in this clash at the same time. 13 members of BNP are being detained by the police in this incident.
In this regard, Additional Superintendent of Police Fakhruzzaman Jewell said that during the celebration of BNP’s founding anniversary, leaders and activists from different parts of the headquarters blocked the road. This stopped the movement of people including vehicles. When the police came and wanted to clear the road, BNP leaders and activists attacked the police. Later, the police fired several rounds of blank bullets including teargas to bring the situation under control.
