Conditional visa for police chief is humiliating: Fakhrul
Online Desk/
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has commented that the issue of conditional US visa to Benazir Ahmed at the United Nations Police Chiefs Conference is humiliating for Bangladesh.
He made this comment at a press conference organized at Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan political office on Saturday (August 27).
Mirza Fakhrul said that the United States had given a conditional visa to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed to attend the UN Chiefs of Police Conference, which had created confusion among the people. The image of Bangladesh has been tarnished deliberately by the Bangladesh government’s list of delegations to the United Nations. The illegitimate Awami League government of Bangladesh has tried to legitimize these human rights violators by enlisting Benazir Ahmed as one of the leaders of horrific human rights violations such as extrajudicial killings of opposition party leaders and activists in order to absolve power.
BNP Secretary General said, we think such conditional issuance of visa is insulting to Bangladesh. The government is jeopardizing international relations due to such irresponsible arrogant behaviour.
The press conference was attended by BNP Standing Committee member Dr. Abdul Moin Khan, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Vice Chairman Abdullah Al Noman.
