A youth named Rabiul Islam Roni (21) has been arrested by the District Intelligence Branch (DB) police on the charge of producing fake National Identity Card (NID) in Dutta Market area of the district town. He was arrested on Tuesday (September 15) during a raid at a shop named ‘Siddique Corner Varieties Store’ in Dutta Market area of Old Court Road in Netrakona municipality. According to the district intelligence branch police, under the direct guidance of the Superintendent of Police, SI Md. The operation was conducted based on intelligence led by Abdullah Al Noman. At that time, Roni’s body was searched and 7 fake national identity cards printed on A-4 paper were recovered. Although different names, father’s names, date of birth and ID numbers are used in these NIDs, the picture of the same person is used.

Besides, 6 more printed copies of the back of the NID were recovered, in which different addresses were also used. A used mobile phone was also seized in the raid. According to the police, the information of sending soft copies of 80 fake national identity cards created through fraud to a number was found from the WhatsApp account in that mobile phone. Although these NIDs have different ID numbers and addresses, the pictures of the same person have been used.

District Police Media Spokesperson Additional District Superintendent of Police Md. Hafizul Islam said in a press release in the afternoon that Rabiul Islam Roni was arrested after seizing the recovered evidence. A case has been filed at Netrakona Model Police Station in this incident. Later he was sent to learned court.
