A woman named Runa Rani Talukder died after consuming sleeping pills after hearing news of her husband’s second marriage in Netrakona. She died while undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital in the early hours of Saturday, August 22, 2026. The deceased Runa Rani Talukder is the daughter of Jiban Chandra Talukder of Chatrampur village of Maghan union in the upazila. Her family has informed that she was the wife of Biswajit Biswas.

According to family sources, Runa Rani had been staying at her father’s house since a case was filed in the court against her husband on dowry charges. She had a mental breakdown after hearing news of her husband’s second marriage on August 20. She consumed sleeping pills the next morning. Later, family members first took her to Tarail Hospital. From there, she was taken to Kishoreganj, where the doctor on duty sent her to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.

While undergoing treatment there, she died in the early hours of Saturday (August 22). The deceased’s elder brother Asim Talukder said, “After Runa Rani took sleeping pills, we first took her to Tarail Hospital. Later, when she was taken to Kishoreganj, the doctor sent her to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. While undergoing treatment there, she died in the early hours of August 22.”

When asked about the case filed in the court, Asim Talukder said, “We have already filed a case in the court.” The family has made various allegations against her husband in this incident. However, the statement of accused Bishwajit Biswas regarding these allegations was not immediately available. A shadow of mourning has fallen over the area following the incident.
