During a visit to a Puja Mandap in Gazipur, the Director General of the Ansar-VDP stated that a unified resistance must be urgently established to prevent rumors and unrest.

This information was conveyed in a press release signed by Nazmus Sakib on October 17.

In light of the Sharadiya Durga Puja, Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud, Director General of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party (Ansar-VDP), visited the ‘Purba Chandra Sri Sri Kali and Durga Mandir.’ The visit aimed to assess the overall security situation at the Puja Mandap, review the activities of the deployed Ansar-VDP personnel, and foster a sense of security and confidence among the devotees. During his visit, he inspected the security arrangements and emphasized the importance of responsibility, vigilance, and coordinated efforts to maintain a peaceful atmosphere throughout the festival.

The Director General noted that over 212,000 Ansar-VDP members have been deployed across the country to ensure security during the Durga Puja celebrations. In addition to securing the Puja Mandaps, 104 ‘striking teams’ are operating nationwide to respond swiftly to any untoward incidents. Through a technology-driven security management system, personnel responsible for providing information, monitoring the situation, and taking immediate action are integrated via the ‘Sharadiya Surokkha’ (Autumnal Protection) app. This facilitates the rapid exchange of field-level information, situational assessment, and the implementation of necessary measures.

He highlighted that Ansar-VDP members—from the grassroots level to urban areas—are performing their duties with dedication and professionalism. In times of crisis or need, the public can always count on the support of the Ansar-VDP. Ensuring a peaceful, secure, and festive environment requires the concerted efforts of the local administration, law enforcement agencies, Puja celebration committees, and the general public. The Director General stated that everyone must remain vigilant to ensure that no group can disrupt communal harmony through rumors, incitement, or attempts to create chaos. Any untoward situation must be handled with patience, awareness, and a sense of responsibility. By strengthening administrative coordination and fostering mutual cooperation, all obstacles can be overcome to maintain a peaceful and festive atmosphere.

Highlighting the organization’s public welfare and development initiatives, he encouraged unemployed youth to participate in various skill-based and income-generating training programs offered by the Ansar-VDP. He noted that acquiring skills through such training can pave the way for self-employment and broader job opportunities. Furthermore, the ‘Sanjibon Project’—designed to integrate marginalized populations into economic activities—will play a positive role in reducing unemployment, improving living standards, and fostering sustainable socio-economic development.

The Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party (VDP) believes that through mutual respect, communal harmony, social awareness, and integrated security management, a peaceful and celebratory environment can be maintained at every Puja-mandap (worship venue), even in the most remote areas. Committed to ensuring public safety and standing by the people, members of the force continue to carry out their duties during the Sharadiya Durga Puja.
