Ansar personnel detained two individuals—found with locally-made weapons and cannabis—at the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) warehouse area in Khanpur, Narayanganj. They were detained on suspicion during a routine patrol late at night on Friday (September 18). The detained individuals are Abdul Khalek and Anwar Hossain. On-duty Ansar members Nasir Uddin and Abu Bakkar noticed the two men loitering suspiciously in the BIWTA warehouse area late at night.
Finding their movements suspicious, the Ansar members began covert surveillance. At one point, the Ansar members cautiously approached and discovered the two men sitting there and consuming drugs. Launching an immediate operation without giving them a chance to escape, the personnel detained both individuals.
A subsequent search led to the recovery of cannabis and locally-made weapons intended for theft. The detainees have been handed over to BIWTA authorities through the camp in-charge for legal action. The authorities have expressed satisfaction with the responsible and courageous role played by the Ansar members.
