A tree plantation program has been inaugurated in 29 thousand 621 secondary level educational institutions across the country. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated the program virtually from the Bangladesh-China Friendship International Conference Center in the capital on Monday afternoon. As part of this, Rupganj Girls’ High School in Barhatta Upazila joined the online inauguration ceremony.
Deputy Commissioner Khandaker Mushfiqur Rahman, District Council Administrator Advocate Nuruzzaman Nuru, Police Superintendent Md. Tariqul Islam, along with leaders of political, socio-cultural organizations, school teachers, students and guardians were present. This initiative will play an important role in implementing the target of planting 25 core trees in five years announced in the government’s election manifesto.
At the same time, this greening activity has also been started as part of the ‘One Child, One Tree’ program to involve every child in planting at least one tree every year. This program is expected to play an important role in combating the adverse effects of climate change, maintaining environmental balance, and building a green Bangladesh for future generations.
