A tree plantation program was held at Baneshwardi Islamia Dakhil Madrasa in Nakla upazila of Sherpur district on Wednesday as part of the government’s nationwide initiative to plant 250 million trees over five years to protect the environment and maintain ecological balance. The program was inaugurated with the planting of a jackfruit sapling on the madrasa campus. Fruit bearing saplings were later distributed among students to encourage tree planting and environmental awareness. The event was chaired by the madrasa’s Superintendent Maulana Md Shahidul Islam and conducted by Senior Assistant Teacher Md Musharaf Hossain.
Speaking on the occasion, teachers urged students to plant at least one tree at their homes, school premises or other suitable locations and to take proper care of the saplings. They said tree plantation is essential for maintaining ecological balance, mitigating the adverse impacts of climate change and ensuring a greener and safer future for coming generations.
Among those present were local BNP leader Rana Mia, Assistant Superintendent Maulana Md Fazlul Karim, Senior Assistant Teachers Mosammat Rokeya Akter, Assistant Teachers Nusrat Jahan Nipa, Shawkat Ali, Mahadi Masud, Jesmin Akter, Mukta Khatun, Abu Raihan; Assistant Maulvi Hazrat Ali, Fulesha Khatun, Sabuja Khatun and Sohagi Begum, Teacher Tahera Sultana, Mojahidul Islam, Ayesha Siddika, Ujjal Mia, Yasin Ahmed, Laboni Begum and Arif Hossain, along with students and other staff members of the madrasa.
