Three-Month Cleanliness Drive to Prevent Dengue in Louhajang

A three-month-long cleanliness drive, along with the distribution of awareness leaflets and a discussion meeting, was held in Louhajang, Munshiganj, to prevent dengue and raise public awareness. The program was organized by the Upazila administration on Saturday at 10:00 AM in the Ghourdour Padmavati Park and market area. As part of the initiative, leaflets raising awareness about dengue prevention were distributed among local residents and business owners. Simultaneously, a cleanliness drive was conducted in the market and surrounding areas.

Advocate Abdus Salam Azad, Member of Parliament for Munshiganj-2 and Joint Secretary General of the BNP, attended the event as the chief guest. Louhajang Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Farzana Bobby Mitu presided over the meeting. Speakers at the discussion emphasized that preventing dengue requires destroying mosquito breeding grounds rather than relying solely on medical treatment. They also stressed the importance of keeping homes, institutions, and the surrounding environment clean. To boost public awareness, the Upazila administration plans to conduct cleanliness activities continuously over the next three months.

Officials and staff from various Upazila administration departments, local dignitaries, leaders and activists from the Upazila and Union BNP and their affiliated organizations, as well as people from various walks of life, participated in the program. The Upazila administration urged everyone to act responsibly in preventing dengue by keeping their homes and surroundings clean, ensuring water does not stagnate, and taking measures to curb mosquito breeding.
