A three-day training workshop titled “Trauma-Informed Documentation and Psychosocial First Aid Training for Human Rights Defenders” has commenced in Manikganj, aimed at enhancing the skills of human rights defenders and researchers. The program began on Saturday, October 17, at the training facility of the Gono Kallayan Trust in Manikganj. It is jointly organized by the human rights organization ‘Odhikar’ and the international organization ‘DIGNITY’. The training will continue until October 19.

The workshop covers key topics, including the accurate collection and documentation of information and evidence regarding human rights violations; conducting interviews with a compassionate approach toward individuals who have experienced trauma; and providing ‘Psychosocial First Aid’ in emergencies encountered in the field.

During the inaugural session, subject-matter experts discussed the safety of field-level human rights defenders, the collection of objective information, and various strategies for coping with trauma. A group of human rights defenders, representatives, and researchers from both local and national levels are participating in the training.

According to the organizers, this three-day residential training program was designed to help those working in human rights protection manage mental stress and ensure the accurate, sensitive documentation of information and evidence. The training is organized by the human rights organization ‘Odhikar’. It is supported by DIGNITY – The Danish Institute Against Torture.
