A mobile court has imposed a total fine of  15 lakh Taka on three brick kilns in Mohammadpur Upazila, Magura, for violating the Brick Manufacturing and Kiln Establishment (Control) Act. During an operation conducted on Saturday, October 17, the brick kilns—Messrs. Shimanta Bricks, Messrs. Nodi Bricks, and Messrs. Naba Bricks—were each fined 500,000 (5 lakh) Taka. According to the district administration, the fines were imposed under Sections 14, 15, and 16 of the Act, following violations of Sections 4, 5, and 6 of the Brick Manufacturing and Kiln Establishment (Control) Act, 2013 (as amended).

The mobile court was led by Aminul Islam, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of the district administration, with Kamal Kumar Barman, Assistant Director of the Department of Environment (Magura), serving as the prosecutor. Personnel from the police, Fire Service, Ansar, and the Department of Environment were present during the operation. Residents noted that disregarding existing laws in the establishment and operation of brick kilns causes severe damage to the environment, agricultural land, and public health.

Therefore, they argue that authorities should not merely collect fines but also ensure regular monitoring to guarantee that brick kilns operate in compliance with the law. Concerned citizens have strongly urged regular verification of the legal status of brick kilns in Mohammadpur and other areas of Magura, emphasizing the need to protect the environment and safeguard public interest.
