A freshers’ reception and cultural evening for the 2025-26 academic session students was held at Gopalganj Science and Technology University (GSTU), organized by the university’s branch of the Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad. Nurul Haque, State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, attended the event as the chief guest. The program took place on Tuesday at 4 PM at the open stage of the university’s academic building.

University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Sohel Hassan inaugurated the event, while Dr. KM Babar, Member of Parliament for the Gopalganj-2 constituency, attended as a special guest. Md. Saidur Rahman, President of the GSTU Chhatra Odhikar Parishad, presided over the ceremony. In his address as the chief guest, the State Minister congratulated the new students and remarked that a university is a place for self-development. There is immense freedom here. The path a student chooses to follow is crucial.

Students must make their own decisions regarding how to shape themselves—whether through sports, pursuing higher education, seeking government employment, or building a career. Speaking as a special guest, Dr. KM Babar welcomed the newcomers and said, “I have become deeply connected to everything—both the good and the bad—regarding this university.” “There are shortages of teachers and classrooms, and there is no auditorium.” “The institution is somehow managing despite these many deficiencies. However, I want this university to become one of the country’s leading institutions.” “I want to see all crises resolved, modern laboratories established, and doors opened for research.

“The current government will continue its efforts to ensure this campus remains vibrant with teachers and students. ” In his inaugural address, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Sohel Hassan welcomed the new students to the lush, 55-acre campus. “However, we aim to expand beyond this 55-acre footprint.” “We are working towards constructing a 200-acre campus in the future.” “InshaAllah, this will be realized very soon.”

“We have already received permission to recruit teachers for 32 permanent positions.” We expect that the teacher shortage will soon be resolved through further recruitment in the near future. At the same time, pending administrative processes currently underway at the university will be completed by June 2027. He further stated that they are firmly committed to building a campus that is free from ragging, safe, and joyful. It is your talent and creativity that will drive this university forward. Teachers and officials from various university departments, leaders at different levels of the Chhatra Adhikar Parishad and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, and over five hundred new students were present at the event.
