A snatcher was attempting to snatch the bag of a female passenger at the ‘Entry-A’ gate of the capital’s Motijheel Metro Rail Station. The incident caught the attention of Ansar member Md. Rakibul Islam, who was on patrol duty at the station, while the snatcher was intimidating the woman in front of the elevator. He immediately and with great courage conducted an operation alongside APC Roknuzzaman and Ansar member Shahin Mia.
Thanks to their swift action, the snatcher—identified as Zakir Hossain—was apprehended red-handed at the scene. A search of his person subsequently led to the seizure of a large, sharp knife. Later, in the presence of the station controller, the Ansar members handed over the detained snatcher and the seized weapon to the MRT Police.
A major crime was averted thanks to the prompt courage and heroic role played by the Ansar members at this busy metro rail station. The victim and other passengers present expressed deep gratitude and high praise for the Ansar force for taking this timely action.
