Snatcher apprehended due to police sergeant’s prompt action in Sreemangal

A snatcher was apprehended thanks to the prompt action of a diligent police sergeant. The snatched mobile phone was also recovered. On Monday evening (September 21), Sergeant Royal Debnath was on duty in the Godar Bazar area of Habiganj Road in Sreemangal town, Moulvibazar district. At that time, a snatcher forcibly snatched a mobile phone from a woman—a resident of Kalighat Road, Sreemangal—as she was crossing the street holding the device, and attempted to flee.
Hearing the woman’s screams, Sergeant Royal Debnath immediately gave chase to the snatcher. At one point, he managed to grab hold of the snatcher. Although the snatcher struggled with Sergeant Debnath in an attempt to escape, the officer succeeded in detaining him. During the scuffle, he also recovered the snatched mobile phone.
Later, with the assistance of bystanders, the detained snatcher-identified as Md. Rakib-and the recovered mobile phone were handed over to Sreemangal Police Station for legal action. The act of immediately tackling the situation and apprehending the criminal upon witnessing the crime while on duty is highly commendable.
Locals praised Sergeant Royal Debnath for demonstrating professional dedication; disregarding his own safety, he swiftly pursued and apprehended the snatcher and played a key role in recovering the stolen mobile phone.
