A day-long science fair was held in Sreemangal, Moulvibazar, showcasing various science-based projects created by students. Md. Ziaur Rahman, the Sreemangal Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) and chief guest of the event, inaugurated the fair on Thursday (September 17) at the grounds of St. Martha’s High School.

Presided over by the school’s Headmistress, RNDM Sister Sangita Gomez, and moderated by assistant teachers Kajli Goswami and Sadikur Rahman, the inaugural ceremony featured a speech by the chief guest, UNO Md. Ziaur Rahman. He remarked that organizing such science fairs does not limit students to the knowledge found in textbooks; instead, it fosters their interest in critical thinking, inquiry, problem-solving, and innovation.

He thanked the school authorities for their unique contribution to the development of students’ talents through the organization of such fairs. Special guests present at the event included Upazila Secondary Education Officer Shamsun Nahar Parvin; Father Prashanta Nicholas Cruze, Principal of Sreemangal Notre Dame School and College; RNDM Sister Supriti Costa, Headmistress of St. Martha’s Kindergarten School; and school guardian representatives Janak Debbarma and Ivy Jennifer Roy.

Teachers, students, guardians, and other guests were also in attendance. Afterward, the chief guest, accompanied by other dignitaries, visited the various stalls at the fair. Md. Lokman Hossain, a senior teacher at Sreemangal Government Girls’ High School, and Mintu Pal, a teacher at Haji Abdul Gafur School and College, served as evaluators for the innovative projects created by the students.
