Md. Salim Munshi, a resident of the Muchalliyabad area in Kuakata, stated in his written address that an influential individual named Jahidul Islam Sumon has been using lawsuits, physical intimidation, and various threats to evict him from the land he has peacefully occupied for 31 years.

Sumon reportedly arrives with a group of people to stage a show of force in front of the house, pressuring the family to vacate the premises. As a result, the women and children are too terrified to step outside the house. Salim Munshi explained that he purchased the land, built a home, and has been living there with his family for three decades. The SA and BS survey records are registered in his name.

(Specifically, BS Khatian No. 1122 and Plot No. 4091). He further stated that Md. Jahidur Islam Sumon, a pickle trader at Kuakata Bhuiyan Market, purchased 21 decimals of land under the same plot and khatian from another heir in 2025. The boundaries specified in Sumon’s purchase deed overlap with the homestead currently in Munshi’s possession. Sumon allegedly acted with malicious intent, despite the seller owning other arable land elsewhere.

When a dispute arose over the land, Munshi filed a case in the Kalapara Senior Civil Judge Court. On September 2, 2026, the court issued a temporary injunction against the defendant, Md. Jahidur Islam Sumon, regarding the land in question. At the press conference, Munshi alleged that, defying the court’s injunction, Jahidur Islam Sumon arrived in front of their home on the morning of September 9 (Wednesday) accompanied by a group of outside henchmen and armed thugs. They surrounded the entire house, trapped the occupants inside, and threatened to kill them.

Following this incident, he filed a written complaint with the Mahipur Police Station to ensure his family’s safety. At the press conference, Salim Munshi alleged that Sumon is a land grabber and a fraudster. He had been deceiving tourists and visitors by selling counterfeit versions of Burmese pickles and various foreign chocolates. After a report on this matter aired on Somoy TV, a mobile court conducted a raid and fined him. As Salim Munshi was unwell, Shahin Alam read out the written statement on his behalf.

Salim Munshi said, “Seeing armed men and outsiders loitering outside, my two innocent grandchildren—aged four and nine—are in a constant state of terror.” “They are crying incessantly.” “My ailing wife, elderly father, and the children are all living in a state of insecurity.” “We are too afraid to even step out of the house.” At the press conference, the victim, Salim Munshi, appealed for intervention from the Mahipur police and higher administrative officials to protect him from the actions of the influential Sumon.

In response, the accused, Jahidur Islam Sumon, denied the allegations, stating that he had purchased the land from Mosharraf Hossain in 2022 and constructed a boundary wall. He remarked, “They are the ones making such accusations, yet they are the ones preventing me from entering my own land.”
