Press Club Jashore President Jahid Hasan Tukun and Secretary Nur Islam

Jahid Hasan Tukun and Nur Islam have emerged victorious as President and General Secretary, respectively, in the biennial election of Press Club Jashore. The election was held on Saturday at the Press Club Jashore office. Advocate Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, Chairman of the Election Conducting Committee, announced the results following the vote count. In the election, Jahid Hasan Tukun secured 68 votes. His closest rival, Fakir Shawkat, received 49 votes.
Nur Islam was elected General Secretary, securing 45 votes. For this post, Wahabuzzaman Jhontu received 41 votes, and Jewel Mridha received 29 votes. Dewan Morshed Alam was elected Secretary for Sports, Culture, and Social Welfare, obtaining 59 votes. His rival, Saifur Rahman Saif, received 52 votes.
Meanwhile, six candidates were elected out of eight contesting for the position of Executive Member. They are: Shahid Joy (96 votes), Rafiqul Islam (92), Murshidul Azim Hiru (79), Galib Hasan Piltu (81), SM Sohel (62), and Tauhid Zaman (59). Abdul Wahab Mukul (48 votes) and Shafiq Sayeed (54 votes) were defeated in the contest for these member positions.
Additionally, Anwarul Kabir Nantu and Sarwar Hossain (Vice-Presidents), Kazi Ashraful Azad and Firoz Gazi (Joint Secretaries), Jahid Ahmed Liton (Treasurer), and Tahid Moni (Office Secretary) were elected unopposed.
