Over 100 Students in Kishoreganj Pledge Not to Touch Drugs

It was 10:00 AM, and classes were in session at the school. Suddenly, officials from the District Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) arrived. They engaged in an open discussion with the students about various social issues, including the problem of drugs. At one point during the discussion, over a hundred students took a pledge to stay away from drugs and never to touch them. This event took place on Thursday morning (September 24) at Kishoreganj Multipurpose Model High School in Kishoreganj Upazila, Nilphamari.
According to school sources, an anti-drug awareness discussion meeting was organized for students under the theme: “Give up addiction, pick up the pen; build a drug-free life.” Teachers and students participated in the event. During the meeting, DNC officials highlighted the dangers of drugs, the harmful effects of addiction, the importance of social awareness, and ways to stay away from drugs. Anti-drug leaflets were subsequently distributed among the students, and more than a hundred of them pledged never to consume drugs.
Arpan Kumar Bhattacharya, a prosecutor for the Department of Narcotics Control, stated, “The menace of drugs is escalating everywhere these days. To build a drug-free society, everyone needs to be aware. We are conducting anti-drug awareness programs in various educational institutions to raise social awareness and inform students about the harmful aspects of drug use.” Teachers from the school were present on the occasion.
