Shortly after the fatal shooting of journalist Lutfuzzaman Alif Fakir in Durgapur Upazila, another incident occurred in the municipal town of Mohanganj, where a man named Sujan Pal (33) was shot by miscreants. The incident took place around 5:30 AM on Sunday (October 18) near the Ramakrishna Temple in the Mailora area of the municipality. Residents rescued him and arranged for his transfer to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Sujan Pal is the son of Jitendra Pal, a resident of Mehendipur village in the district’s Khaliajuri Upazila. He works at a sweet shop in Mohanganj town.

He lived in a rented house in the Mailora area with his wife and children. According to neighbors, Sujan had stepped out early Sunday morning to wash his face. He was heading toward a pond in front of the Ramakrishna Temple, located near his home. At that moment, masked assailants arrived on a motorcycle, shot him, and fled the scene. Alerted by the sound of gunfire, people nearby rushed to the spot, rescued Sujan, and took him to the local health complex.

Following initial treatment, he was transferred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where he is currently undergoing medical care. Sujan Pal’s wife, Tumpa Pal, stated that after waking up and stepping onto the road near their home, Sujan was approached by two masked individuals on a motorcycle who asked for the location of the house belonging to Palash Saha, an expatriate living in Dubai. When one of the men pulled out a weapon, Sujan attempted to flee. The assailants then shot him from behind. They subsequently fled the scene on their motorcycle. Hearing the gunshot, neighbors arrived, rescued Sujan, and took him to the local health complex.

Following the incident, Additional Superintendent of Police (Barhatta Circle) Sabbir Hasan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mohanganj Police Station Hafizul Islam Harun, and Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Amena Khatun visited the scene. The police are attempting to identify the attackers by examining footage from nearby CCTV cameras and gathering evidence.
