Inauguration of dustbin distribution in Nazimganj Bazar to build a clean Kaliganj

Executive Officer Milon Saha inaugurated the distribution of dustbins at the traditional Nazimganj market with the intention of building a clean Kaliganj. Keeping in mind the theme of “Dispose of garbage at designated places, build a clean Kaliganj”, a dustbin distribution program has been inaugurated in Kaliganj, Satkhira, with the aim of discouraging the use of polythene and ensuring a clean environment.

The program was inaugurated at 10 am on Thursday (August 27, 2026) at the fish market chandelier of the traditional Nazimganj Hat. The program was organized in collaboration with the Kaliganj Upazila Administration and various non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working in the upazila. Kaliganj Upazila Executive Officer (Additional Responsibilities) Milon Saha inaugurated the program as the chief guest at the program. At the dustbin distribution ceremony, the chief guest said that appropriate measures will be taken to develop the traditional Nazimganj Bazar CC road, drainage system to eliminate waterlogging, lighting, CCTV cameras, and all infrastructure. In continuation of this, with the cooperation of the upazila administration and NGOs, two dustbins, one red and one green, were installed at each point, one in 10 Nazimganj Bazar and a total of 20 points in other places including the upazila. A van and a cleaning manpower worker were appointed from the upazila.

The chief guest expressed his confidence that the upazila administration will always be by the side of the traders to make Nazimganj Hat Bazar more clean and business-friendly. Under the chairmanship of Assistant Professor Md. Anisur Rahman, Convener of Nazimganj Bazar Election Steering Committee and moderated by journalist Sheikh Shariful Islam, member of the Election Steering Committee, Upazila Jatiya Party President and prominent businessman Alhaj Mahbubur Rahman, Executive Director of Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee and Sushilon Mustafa Aktaruzzaman Paltu, EDA Project Coordinator Mustafiz Kaman, Kaliganj, DGF Member Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Advisor of the Election Steering Committee Azgar Ali, prominent businessman and advisor Jahangir Alam Gain, addressed the program as special guests.

Election Commissioner Committee Member Md. Zahurul Huda, Md. Saidur Rahman, members of the Market Steering Committee Sarafat Hossain, Maulana Monirul Islam, Md. Tabibur Rahman, along with journalists from print and electronic media and traders of the market, were present at the program. As part of the program, dustbins were installed at various important places in the market and distributed among traders. At the same time, the market traders, buyers and the general public were made aware of throwing garbage in specific places, avoiding the use of polythene and keeping the environment clean.

The organizers said that the active cooperation of the administration as well as traders, buyers and the general public is required to build a clean and environmentally friendly market. If you throw garbage in specific places, reduce the use of polythene and play a responsible role in protecting the environment from your own position, it is possible to make Nazimganj Bazar and the entire Kaliganj more clean and livable
