Due to the Sharadiya Durga Puja, import and export operations between Bangladesh and India through the Benapole land port in Jashore will remain suspended for eight consecutive days. Trade in goods between the two countries will be halted from October 17 to October 24. However, the movement of passengers holding valid passports will continue as usual during this period. At India’s Petrapole port, a decision has been made to suspend import-export activities from October 17 to October 21 in observance of Durga Puja. Meanwhile, in Bangladesh, commercial operations at Benapole port will remain suspended due to public holidays from October 20 to October 24. Consequently, import-export activities will be halted for eight consecutive days, accounting for the holiday schedules in both countries.
Nevertheless, while import-export operations will be suspended on October 18 and 19, other functions at the Benapole Customs and the port—such as the loading, unloading, clearance, and customs processing of goods—will continue as normal. Furthermore, despite the suspension of import-export trade, the movement of passengers holding valid passports between Bangladesh and India via the Benapole-Petrapole border will remain unaffected.
