A freshers’ welcome ceremony was held at the Rajshahi Government Polytechnic Institute for students enrolling in the first semester of the Diploma-in-Engineering program for the 2026-2027 academic year. The event took place on Saturday morning (October 17) on the institute’s playground, where the new students were welcomed with flowers. The Minister of Land, Md. Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, attended the event as the chief guest. In his address, the Land Minister remarked that the Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute is one of the country’s most significant technical educational institutions.

Graduates from this institute are currently working with distinction in their respective professional fields, not only in Bangladesh but also in various countries around the world. The institute plays a vital role in developing a skilled workforce. Addressing the new students, he noted that since its inception, the Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute has produced many highly skilled diploma engineers. He urged the newly admitted students to focus diligently on their studies. They must strive to become skilled and competent professionals through hard work. Under no circumstances should they neglect their academic pursuits.

Addressing members of student organizations, the Minister emphasized that, first and foremost, one must be a good student. While engaging in extracurricular activities, students must ensure that the academic environment remains intact. Everyone on campus should live in harmony to prevent any form of disorder. Regarding various demands raised by the Rajshahi Government Polytechnic Institute, the Minister stated that initiatives would be taken to introduce new buses for student transportation, construct a new dormitory to address housing shortages, and build an auditorium. He assured that necessary steps would be taken to ensure students can pursue their studies on campus without any hindrances.

He expressed optimism that these measures would also alleviate the concerns of students, parents, and teachers alike. The event was presided over by Engineer A. J. M. Masudur Rahman, Principal of Rajshahi Government Polytechnic Institute. Special guests who addressed the gathering included Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon, Member of Parliament for the Rajshahi-3 constituency; Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, Administrator of the Rajshahi City Corporation and General Secretary of the Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP; Mamun-or-Rashid, President of the Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP; and Emdadul Haque Limon, Member Secretary of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD).

During the event, new students enrolling in the first semester of the Diploma-in-Engineering program for the 2026–2027 academic year—across both shifts—were welcomed with flowers. Faculty members, students, and other relevant individuals associated with the institute were present on the occasion.
